Working with Hazardous Substances

Various safety precautions should be implemented to ensure that the risk of injury in the workplace is limited when using hazardous substances or dangerous goods.  The diagram below charts the hierarchy of risk control. 

The more effective methods of risk reduction are listed at the top of the chart ie it has been found that eliminating unnecessary hazardous substances or dangerous goods is more effective than a PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in controlling risk.
